DDW 2024
At the end of October each year, the entire city of Eindhoven turns into an exhibition of design and creativity, with various studio visits, workshops, exhibits and parties. To me, DDW24 (Dutch Design Week, edition 2024) was the perfect opportunity for me to explore what Design is, beyond the four walls of a classroom. I visited 4 separate areas within Eindhoven in 4 days and got to see a lot of various exhibitions and works of art. I got inspired to create, especially by the exhibition of Polish artists and designers. As someone from Poland I felt very connected to the exhibition. I also really enjoyed seeing the different colors at the IKEA exhibit, it made me move beyond my earlier idea of designing primarily for function and made me see that form sometimes exists over function. All in all, DDW24 made me consider my own standpoint as a design student, and it opened my eyes to what my life would become in the future, and gave me something to look forward to in my development as a designer.
